How Battleground Works
Battleground is EdgeGamers’ community-wide metagame — one persistent profile that follows you across every eGO server. Counter-Strike (CS2 and Source) and Team Fortress 2 today, more games later. Every kill, objective, and minute you play feeds a single account with a shared currency, missions, awards, seasons, and territory you can own. It’s the replacement for the old stats.edgegamers.com, rebuilt as an actual game on top of the servers you already play on.
This page is the whole thing top to bottom. Each section links to a deeper guide.
The core loop
- Play on any Battleground server — your account is created automatically the first time the server sees you. Nothing to sign up for.
- Earn Plinks (the community currency) and XP from your stats, daily missions, and time on the servers.
- Climb the season leaderboards and collect awards — one profile, ranked across the whole community.
- Own territory — every map is a claimable territory. Take your map with
!claimand fly a crown over it. - Seasons reset the ladders every six months into a Hall of Fame, while Map Legends keep all-time records that never reset.
How it runs
Battleground is server-authoritative and event-sourced: the servers report what actually happened (a kill, a bomb plant, a round win, a connect), and the backend is the single source of truth for your stats and balances. That means:
- One account, everywhere. Your profile, currency, XP, and rankings are shared across every server and game — CS2, CS:S, and TF2 all feed the same you.
- It just works in the background. You don’t run any commands to “start tracking.” Play, and it counts.
- Your money is real. Plinks live in a double-entry ledger — every Plink is accounted for, balances never go negative, and nothing is minted or lost by accident.
We’re in Season 0 (open beta) right now — everything below is live and earning, and a few big systems are still on the way (see On the horizon).
Getting started
- Connect to any EdgeGamers Battleground server and play. That’s the whole signup.
- Check your profile on the stats site — stats, balance, level, awards, and where you rank.
- Use the in-game commands below to manage your Plinks, claim your map, and track missions.
New here? The Getting Started guide is the short version.
Earning Plinks & XP
You earn by doing what you already do — fighting for your team. Kills, objectives, MVPs, round wins, and time on the servers all pay out, and missions stack bonuses on top. Higher-population servers count for more (a quiet 1v1 won’t farm the economy).
Exact rates change as we balance the season, so they’re never written into this guide — see the always-current earning reference for what every action pays right now, and Plinks & the Bank for how the currency works.
In-game commands
Type these in chat on any Battleground server. The always-current list, with which games each supports, is on the commands reference.
!bank— check your balance, or deposit, withdraw, and transfer Plinks. See Plinks & the Bank.!claim— claim your current map’s neutral territory and become its owner (costs Plinks).!missions— view your active daily and weekly missions and their progress. See Missions.!pledge— pledge to a side in an active territory war. (Arrives when wars go live — see below.)
Your profile, stats & leaderboards
Everything you do rolls up into your profile on the stats site: your kill/objective stats per game, your Plink balance, your level, your awards, and your rank on each board. Seasons run six months and then reset the ladders into a permanent Hall of Fame; Map Legends track all-time per-map records that survive every reset. Full detail in Leaderboards & Seasons.
Territory
Every map in rotation is a territory someone can own. Claim the map you’re on with !claim (for a Plink cost), and you hold it — with a crown tag to show for it — until someone takes it or
you stop paying its upkeep. Owning territory is the foundation of the war system coming next.
Missions
Daily and weekly missions give you specific goals — get kills, win rounds, play
objectives — for bonus Plinks. Check them with !missions; they refresh on their own.
The Bank & the Shop
Your Plinks sit in your wallet and your bank. Use !bank to move them around — see Plinks & the Bank. What you can spend them on lives in the Shop & Loadout guide; the full storefront opens up alongside website sign-in.
On the horizon
The metagame is being rolled out in stages. Live now: profiles, stats, leaderboards, awards, Plinks, the bank, missions, and territory claiming. Coming next:
- Territory wars — pay to challenge a map’s owner and kick off a multi-day war. The whole
community pledges Plinks to the attacking or defending side, and the winner takes (or keeps)
the map. This is why
!pledgeexists today but is dormant. - Website sign-in — manage your bank, shop, and loadout from bg.edgegamers.dev once account sign-in lands. For now, the site is your read-only profile and everything you do happens through in-game commands.
- The full shop, Map Legends land rush, and Season 1 — the first full-shop, full-territory season with the Hall of Fame.
The ground rules
Battleground is competitive on purpose, and it stays fair:
- Donations never buy an advantage. Supporting eGO gets you cosmetics — never Plinks, territory, or war power.
- Wars are transparent. Every war keeps a complete, public scoring log, and disputes follow a written policy.
- Bans have teeth. A banned player automatically loses their territories.
That’s Battleground — play the servers you already love, and now it all counts toward something that lasts. See you out there.
